ראש עיריית נתיבות, יחיאל זוהר, מילא תפקיד מרכזי במגעים שהובילו לפרישתה של תנועת אח"י מהמרוץ לכנסת, למרות המתיחות בינו לבין ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו בחודשים האחרונים. בשבוע האחרון הפעיל זוהר לחצים כבדים על אנשי התנועה, המקורבים אליו, במטרה להביא לפרישתם מהבחירות ולמנוע פגיעה בקולות גוש הימין. בכנס שנערך אתמול (שבת), קרא ראש העיר לתושבי נתיבות להצביע לליכוד.
