חודשים לפני ההליכה אל הקלפי החלה הכשרת דעת הקהל: טענות על זיופים, התערבות זרה וגנבת קולות בחברה הערבית נשמעו בשופרות הקואליציה, ומשם התפשטו אל הרשתות החברתיות. לפחות במקרה אחד רשתות השפעה זרות הדהדו את המסר, וככל שהתקרב מועד הבחירות הלך הקמפיין וצבר תאוצה. כשהתברר שהפסידה, מימשה מפלגת הליכוד את התסריט שהכינה
