דוח של חוקרים ישראלים על הדרת נשים והקצנה בספרי הלימוד בסוריה עורר טלטלה נרחבת בעולם הערבי. עיתונאי סורי שמתגורר בצרפת היה זה שהצית את האש כשהפיץ את הממצאים בפוסטים ויראליים. אריק אגסי, סמנכ"ל מכון IMPACT-se שחיבר את הדוח, אמר ל-ynet: "הסערה שהתעוררה בסוריה בעקבות המחקר מוכיחה עד כמה חינוך הוא מרכיב מכריע בעיצוב עתיד מדינות"
