עבד אבו שחאדה נעצר לאחר שראיין בקטאר את עזמי בשארה, לטענתו כחלק מעבודה עיתונאית. המשטרה: "הוא לא עיתונאי". כעת נחשף ב-ynet כי שמו עלה גם בפרשת בל"ד מלפני עשור, שם נחקרו הלבנות כספים למפלגה מחו"ל - ובה לא היה חשוד. מדובב שהופעל אז העיד: "המבריח סיפר איך הועבר כסף מעזמי בשארה לחשבון בנק של בל"ד". סאמי אבו שחאדה: "זו חטיפה, פשע של המשטרה ושב"כ"
