לאחר שהדיון הופסק לזמן מה עקב ויכוח בין הפרקליטות לסנגור נתניהו, השופטים קבעו כי היועמ"ש לשעבר ייחקר ב"חקירה חוזרת" - כך שיוכל רק לספק הבהרות למה שכבר אמר. הסנגור חדד הקשה בנוגע ל"היענות החריגה" שיוחסה לוואלה בתיק 4000, מנדלבליט השיב: "אני זוכר את המינוח, אך יש גבול כמה אפשר לזכור"
