Werkgevers hebben te weinig aandacht voor de gezondheidsrisico's van nachtwerk. Bovendien is nachtwerk vaak onnodig. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van de Arbeidsinspectie. Hoewel de Gezondheidsraad in 2017 al adviseerde om nachtwerk te beperken, neemt het aantal nachtwerkers niet af. De inspectie onderzocht werkgevers in onder andere de (voedsel)industrie, transport, zorg, horeca en distributie. Dat zijn sectoren waar veel in de nacht wordt gewerkt.
