De avondspits van vandaag is de drukste van het jaar tot nu toe. Rond 17.30 uur stond er 1109 kilometer file op de Nederlandse wegen, meldt de ANWB. Het vorige record dateerde van woensdag 13 mei, toen er 1046 kilometer file stond. Die drukte hing samen met Hemelvaart en het vakantieverkeer. Volgens een woordvoerder van de ANWB speelt vooral de regen een rol. Op veel plaatsen is het slecht weer en doordat het eerder donker wordt, rijden automobilisten voorzichtiger en langzamer.
